Local filmmakers to premiere movies
Two films produced by local filmmakers are getting their premiere U.S. screenings at the Grand Cinema 8, 15365 George O’Neal Road.
Veer Hamir, a historical epic based on the life of the great Indian warrior Hamirji Gohil, will screen at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Admission is available through a minimum donation of $10.
Neverending Road, a 21-minute, impressionistic film by 16-year-old Baton Rouge writer-director Nathan Velasquez, is screening at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18.
Tickets are $3.50.
Shot in color and black-and-white, Neverending Road follows a young woman who experiences a traumatic incident and goes on a spiritual odyssey. Velasquez is a fan of directors Stanley Kubrick, Ingmar Bergman, Lars Von Trier and Akira Kurosawa.
An after-party for the Neverending Road screening is at 9 p.m. at Porticos, 11777 Coursey Blvd.
