Top 5 nightlife events this weekend

Feb. 10 - Feb. 11, 2012

Let’s keep the celebration coming as we head into our second weekend of the Mardi Gras season. Don’t let the parties pass you by because February will be over before we know it. With that said, this weekend is full of parties, parades, and even pajamas.

The Maybach Massacre Tour

Take the short trip to the University of New Orleans Lakefront Arena to see Rick Ross and Waka Flocka Flame perform on Friday, Feb. 10. Rick Ross is a boss, and you’ll hear him state this at least 100 times during the show. However, with all of the success the “Teflon Don” has seen this last year, it’s hard to dispute his claim. Sharing the stage at this event is Waka Flocka Flame, who is known for his single “No Hands.”

The show is on Friday, Feb. 10, and starts at 8 p.m. Tickets can be found at www.ticketmaster.com. They start at around $55.

Rumor Mill

Catch Rumor Mill this Friday, Feb. 10, at the Roux House in Baton Rouge. The band’s hit single, “Call Me Crazy,” exemplifies their stage show. Full of energy—and makeup—this is not the band to miss.

The doors open at 9 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.rouxhousebr.com.

Krewe of Artemis Parade

This all-female parade is sure to be a treat. Come out to downtown Baton Rouge to see this year’s theme, “Artemis presents Heroes and Heroines.” Artemis even has an “invitation-only” after party at the River Center. If you are on the list—or can convince a friend who is on the list to bring you along—this will be a great night downtown.

The parade starts in downtown near the USS Kidd Museum at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10. For more information, go to http://www.kreweofartemis.net/

Heartthrob Skateboards’ Anniversary Party

Celebrate Heartthrob Skateboards’ three-year anniversary by heading to the Red Star this Friday, Feb. 10. For the last three years, Heartthrob Skateboards, which is a skateboard company, has been hosting skating events and producing decks for local shops. They are excited about their anniversary and are throwing an amazing party. With two bands, The Widowers and Secret Smoke, this event is going to be a blast.

The party starts on Friday, Feb. 10, at 9 p.m. at the Red Star (222 Laurel Street). There is a $5 cover at the door.

Henry the Fifth’s Pajama-rama

Who doesn’t love to wear pajamas to the club?! Henry the Fifth is hosting a pajama-rama at the Varsity Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 11. Wear your favorite pajamas and get $3 off the price of admission. Special guests for the night include the Cade Moreau Band and Necronaught.

The doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 8:30 p.m.
