BREC’s Independence Park Theatre, 7800 Independence Blvd., Baton Rouge, will present “A Night of Ella” with Quiana Lynell at 7 p.m. Friday, July 25.
This concert celebrates “The First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald, weaving myth, memory and music as it tells the story of one of the greatest jazz/pop vocalists of the 20th century.
The concert showcases more than a dozen of Fitzgerald’s popular hits, including “A Tisket, A Tasket,” “How High the Moon,” “That Old Black Magic” and “They Can’t Take that Away from Me.”
Lynell recently won the National World War II Museum’s Stage Door Idol award. Performing with Delfeayo Marsalis, Irvin Mayfield, Herlin Riley, Mike Esneault and Roderick Paulin, she has been nicknamed“Velvet Voice.”
