Kenilworth Civic Association held its 42nd annual Independence Day Parade Thursday evening, with walkers and floats from area organizations, political campaigns and governmental groups participating. Starting at Kenilworth Science & Technology School, the parade focused its spotlight on American Red Cross volunteers, and the parade’s grand marshal was Ruark Chick, chairman of the board of directors of the Louisiana Capital Area Red Cross. He has served with the Red Cross for seven years and was named chairman of the board of directors this month. The parade also honored Bob Mathews as the 2014 Kenilworth Resident of the Year. Mathews, who has lived in Kenilworth for 25 years, has served on the civic association’s board for eight years. Chick and Mathews were both presented proclamations before the parade, by East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Kip Holden.
