Juban Crossing is getting Louisiana’s first Movie Tavern, which offers an array of casual dining options and alcoholic beverages along with first-run movies.
The 11-screen theater will be part of the first phase of Juban Crossing, set to open in the fall. Movie Tavern, which is owned by Southern Theaters, of New Orleans, specializes in dishes such as hamburgers, homemade pizzas and chicken wings, along with selling beer, wine and mixed drinks.
Movie Tavern has 17 locations across the U.S., in cities such as Houston, Denver, Fort Worth, Texas, and Lexington, Ky.
Along with Movie Tavern and the previously announced Rouses supermarket and Belk department store, Juban Crossing will contain Academy Sports + Outdoors, Lane Bryant, Old Navy, PetSmart, Ross Dress for Less, Shoe Carnival, T.J. Maxx and Ulta Beauty.
Developers of Juban Crossing said the Livingston Parish project at Interstate 12 and Juban Road is on track to meet its fall opening. Block Construction has finished about 40 percent of the work and Hoar Construction is working with national retailers for store build-outs.
“After the years of preparation and build up, it’s exciting to see our vision take shape in reality,” said Stephen Keller, a principal in Creekstone Companies, which is developing the mixed-use project. “Our team is working seven-day weeks in order to deliver on our promise to the people of this parish and across south Louisiana a premier shopping, dining and working destination.”
The $350 million development will be built in three phases, with the first retail phase totals 374,000 square feet.
Also included Juban Crossing’s plans are national chain restaurants and a drug store.
Developers estimate Juban Crossing will generate about $22 million in tax collections over 25 years and about 1,500 jobs in construction alone.
