Children’s Carnival Club enacts a fairy-tale tableau

The 89th annual bal masque of the youthful Children’s Carnival Club was held Sunday, Jan. 19, in the grand ballroom of the Westin Canal Place.

Reigning over the festivities as King and Queen Once Upon A Time were Andrew Glen Carter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stanley Carter; and Miss Alston Adele Bagot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Francis Bagot III.

Pages to their majesties were Masters Richard Dunkin Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Bell Sr.; Randolph Mark Dunkin Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dunkin; Thomas Mallory Earl, son of Dr. and Mrs. Truman Earl; Manuel Gerard Llaneza IV, son of Mr. and Mrs. Llaneza III; and Rocco Luciano Montalbano Ford, son of Mr. Christopher Ford Jr. and Ms. Joelle Montalbano.

Captain of the youthful krewe was Gerald Francis Plough Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Plough. He was assisted by girl captains Misses Kristina Schwing Bickham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bickham; Charlotte Lydia Rose Fowler, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Fowler; Emma Winn Freeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Freeman; Jenna Marie Wehner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Wehner III; and Cecelia Frances Zimmermann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Zimmermann.

Setting the stage for their majesties were royal attendants, little Misses Olivia James and Vivienne James Buras, daughters of Mr. James Buras II and Mrs. Jennifer Buras; Eleanor Helen Hortencia Curtis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Curtis; Gabrielle Raelynn Ford, daughter of Mr. Christopher Ford Jr. and Mrs. Brandi Ford; Colleen Marion Lee Fowler, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Fowler; Colette Elizabeth Shannon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Shannon; Marguerite Ellen Thibeaux, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thibeaux; and Emma Odette Weaver, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Weaver.

Debutante of the season presented to their majesties was Miss Emily Lee Dutton Seba, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Seba.

Royal entertainment was provided by the New Orleans Youth Ballet under ballet master Richard Rholdon of the Maria and Joseph Giacobbe Academy of Dance; the presentation of the proclamation from the City of New Orleans to their majesties; and the traditional presentation of a gift to St. Michael’s Special School. General dancing, merriment and royal greetings continued to the tunes of The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra.

Court committee was served by Alan Brackett (chairman) and Marvin Russell. Ball committee was W. Kenneth Mann Jr. (chairman), William Beatty Sr. and Charles Childress Jr. Floor committee consisted of Curtis Rome (chairman), Eugene Gambel, and Mark Bickham.
