NEW ORLEANS — Destrehan quarterback Donovan Isom was named the Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the month for September.
Isom has been a key figure as the Wildcats 5-0 now, went 4-0 in September. The Utah commitment completed 45 of 68 passes for 873 yards and 13 touchdowns with no interceptions.
Registration is underway for The Louisiana Marathon, a three-day running festival Jan. 17-19 in Baton Rouge.
Now in its third year, The Louisiana Marathon expects to attract 10,000 participants and 24,000 attendees from 47 states and 11 countries.
The Louisiana Marathon offers multiple races that include: The Marathon, The Half and The Advocate 5K and Kids Marathon.
Other activities for the event include The Expo, Finish Festival and Family Festival.
The Expo will be Friday, Jan. 17 at The Baton Rouge River Center. The Expo will feature more than 60 vendors will have booths with running, fitness and nutrition products.
Participants in The Advocate 5K and Kids Marathon on Saturday will enjoy Family Fest, which features a “Play Dirty” obstacle course. Both activities are free and open to the public.

Kohne joins the Colonels after spending last season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the NBA Developmental League, while Tribe-Simmons, a former collegiate basketball player, spent three years as a teacher and coach at Northwest Christian School in Phoenix, Ariz.
WOODWAY, Texas — Former University of Louisiana-Monroe assistant football coach James Carroll Holland died away at his home Saturday, Oct. 5.
Holland served as linebackers coach for eight seasons (1989-96) and was also the defensive coordinator during his stint in Monroe. After eight seasons, Holland left ULM for Baylor where he served as an assistant coach.
