Two La. projects get econoimic development grants
Two economic development projects in Louisiana are receiving grants from the U.S. Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration as part of $21.1 million in funding going to 11 states.
The grants in Louisiana are:
- $1.2 million to the Avoyelles Parish Port Commission of Simmesport to make water infrastructure improvements needed to serve the Avoyelles port and industrial park as a stopping point for barge traffic. The project is expected to help create 65 jobs, according to estimates.
- $500,000 to the LaSalle Parish Police Jury in Jena to reconstruct Pinehill Road to open access to a two-mile industrial corridor that will help LaSalle Parish and the town of Jena attract private investment, including companies involved in the timber and energy sectors.
