Four hospitalized in Zachary area collision

East Baton Rouge Parish deputies are investigating a Monday night accident on La. 64, just west of Old Baker Road, that injured a deputy and three people in the other vehicle.

At 9 p.m. Monday, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said the accident was still under investigation and only preliminary details are available.

S he confirmed a volunteer reserve deputy who also works for the Baton Rouge Fire Department and volunteers with the Zachary Fire Department was involved in the accident.

Hicks said the deputy and three people who were in the other vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hicks said the deputy was responding to a call for the Zachary Fire Department at the time of the collision.

Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte confirmed the reserve deputy involved works full-time for the Baton Rouge Fire Department, but he could not offer any more details.

No other details, including the names of those involved in the accident, were immediately available.
