Game of the week

Auburn at No. 6 LSU, 6:45 p.m. (ESPN): Tennessee and Florida may have drawn the premier CBS time slot, but Wild West showdown in Tiger Stadium is the SEC’s best game and only battle of unbeatens. LSU has been a growing national story with its surprisingly efficient passing offense and better-than-expected young defense. Auburn is winning converts with its lower-profile 3-0 start, but will have to play its best game yet under first-year coach Gus Malzahn to snap a six-game losing streak in Death Valley since its last win in 1999. LSU routed Auburn at home 45-10 in 2011 but squeaked out a 12-10 win at Auburn last year.
