U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu announced Wednesday that three Louisiana community colleges have been awarded a total of $8.3 million to better help the schools develop a job-ready workforce.
Delgado Community College in New Orleans will receive $2.1 million; Central Louisiana Technical Community College in Alexandria will get $2.75 million; and Bossier Parish Community College in Bossier City will be awarded $3.5 million, according to a news release from the Democrat’s office.
All three institutions will receive the funding through the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program, funded through the 2009 legislation commonly known as the stimulus bill.
“In order for Louisiana and our country to have long-term and sustainable economic growth, we need to equip our workers with the skills required for the jobs in the 21st Century,” Landrieu said.
