A $23 million renovation and expansion is underway at Mary Bird Perkins – Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center, which will better integrate in-patient and out-patient services.
The work, which will be completed by the end of 2014, will include a new patient drop-off and pick-up area, a refurbished radiation oncology clinic, a floor dedicated to infusion services, a modernized clinic for Louisiana Hematology Oncology Associates and new visitor hospitality areas. While most of the work will be done at the Mary Bird Perkins building, the building at 8119 Picardy Ave., which is home for the Medical Oncology and Hematology physician group will also be renovated.
“This is about providing the highest level of comprehensive care for patients and their caregivers through aligned outpatient and inpatient cancer services,” said Todd Stevens, president and CEO of Mary Bird Perkins. “Upon arrival, we want every patient to immediately sense that the entire experience is designed with their needs in mind, first.”
Cancer Center services will continue as normal during the renovations.
