INDEPENDENCE — An Independence High School student was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly bringing an unloaded gun onto campus, authorities said.
Authorities placed the school on lockdown after discovering the gun, Tangipahoa Parish School Superintendent Mark Kolwe said, adding that no one was injured.
Independence police and sheriff’s deputies searched the campus but found no other danger, Police Chief Frank Edwards III said.
The identity of the student was not released and no more information was available.
A Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman did not respond to messages for comment.
