Bayou Country Superfest announced Monday that veteran country music star George Strait will headline the 2014 festival in LSU’s Tiger Stadium.
Strait will perform May 23 along with another major act who will be announced later. His Superfest appearance is his only announced festival appearance of 2014.
Strait has sold more than 70 million albums in the U.S. His career spans more than 30 years and includes 60 No. 1 hits, more than any musician in any musical genre.
The festival, in its fifth year, also announced its expansion to three days on Memorial Day weekend, May 23-May 25. The complete music lineup and ticket information for the 2014 Bayou Country Superfest will be released on Oct. 29.
“We are honored that George Strait, the king of country music, has chosen the fifth annual Bayou Country Superfest for his final performance in Louisiana,” said Superfest producer-director Quint Davis.
“An event of such historic importance and excitement,” Davis added, “called for a special night of its own, thus expanding the festival to three nights for the first time.”
