Two individuals and one company were recognized for their support of Louisiana Public Broadcasting at the Friends of LPB annual meeting Thursday.

Mary Frances White received the Friends of LPB Volunteer of the Year Award for her continued time and dedication to many projects, and Department of Wildlife & Fisheries Secretary Robert Barham received the President’s Award for his support of “Alive! in America’s Delta,” a six-part series featuring the beauty and necessity of Louisiana’s wildlife, natural ecosystem and wetlands.

This year’s Underwriters Award went to AllBrands.com for its support of “Sewing With Nancy” and “It’s Sew Easy.” The award was accepted by CEO John M. Douthat.

In other business, the Friends elected new board officers. They include Chairman Phillip Juban, of Baton Rouge; Vice Chairwoman Robyn Merrick, of Baton Rouge; Secretary Carole Martin Baxter, of Alexandria; Treasurer Dan Hare, of Lafayette; and immediate past Chairwoman Patti Harper, of Shreveport.

Friends of LPB’s mission is to raise funds for programming to showcase Louisiana’s unique history, people, places and events.
