All is not perfect in Titletown — Bama averaged just 2.5 yards per rush against Virginia Tech.
Gamecocks can stamp selves as BCS contender, eliminate Georgia in one fell swoop.
Enjoy “Saturday night in Tiger Stadium” while you can. LSU guaranteed only three of those.
OK, we’re stumped. Why doesn’t Johnny Football get it?

If the Bulldogs go 0-for-the state of South Carolina, Georgia’s national title hopes will be done just two weeks into the season. The Bulldogs lost a 38-35 heartbreaker last week at Clemson. Now they return home to host a South Carolina team that has beaten UGA three straight years, including a 35-7 smackdown last season, but has watched Georgia go on to the SEC Championship Game the last two. Adding injury to insult, UGA will be without top WR Malcolm Mitchell the rest of the way after he tore an ACL celebrating RB Todd Gurley’s first touchdown run. Meanwhile, ESPN got a Georgia church and movie theater to change their signs to ask, “How do you stop (Jadeveon) Clowney?” It may be a TV stunt, but it’s no joke.
LSU is in the AP Top 25 for the 66th straight week, the second-longest active streak nationally behind only Alabama. ... Western Kentucky coach Bobby Petrino never started 2-0 in SEC play in his four seasons at Arkansas, but can reach that mark with a win over Tennessee after beating Kentucky 35-26 last week. ... Georgia QB Aaron Murray has a chance to move into the top five in SEC history in total yards. Murray ranks seventh with 10,609 yards. Ex-Georgia QB Eric Zeier (1991-94) is fifth with 10,841. ... Alabama is the first SEC team to have an open date. The Crimson Tide’s second open date will be the weekend of Nov. 2. LSU also has an open date that weekend before playing Nov. 9 at Alabama.
