People who live near the Esplanade Mall in Kenner should expect to see police activity and hear what sounds like gunfire on Tuesday night as law-enforcement agencies take part in an active-shooter exercise.
The exercise will begin at 10 p.m. inside of the mall, the Kenner Police Department said.
There will be several emergency response vehicles in the area and loud noises, including simulated gunfire, sires and screaming in the area.
The goal of the exercise is to ensure various agencies and work together during a large-scale emergency, the Police Department said.
Agencies that will participate in the exercise will include: Kenner Police, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s office, Louisiana State Police, the FBI and East Jefferson General Hospital Emergency Medical Services.
