ULL hosts three-day blood drive on campus

A back-to-school blood drive is scheduled for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus Wednesday through Friday in partnership with United Blood Services.

Donor locations are in front of Dupré Library and near Zeus from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Back to School Block Party.

The drive is sponsored by the Student Government Association and Student Orientation Staff in honor of longtime university employee Carolyn Broussard, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and recently received a stem cell transplant.

Donors may ask United Blood Services technicians to have their donation credited toward Broussard.

Kiwanis kicks off jamboree on Thursday

The Kiwanis Club of Lafayette’s 62nd annual Kiwanis Club Football Jamboree begins at 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. Friday at Cajun Field, featuring Acadiana’s high school football teams.

Tickets are $10 per day and all proceeds benefit the club’s service projects for children.

Thursday’s lineup: Lafayette High versus Northside High; St. Martinville High versus Carencro High; and Cecilia High versus Notre Dame High.

Friday’s lineup: Jennings High versus Breaux Bridge High; St. Thomas More Catholic High versus Acadiana High; and Teurlings Catholic High versus Comeaux High.
