In the weeks since the 2013 legislative session ended, I have received numerous awards and honors across the state for my work to gain legislative approval of Senate Bill 204, the Facilities With a Purpose measure that provides a funding mechanism to modernize Louisiana’s community and technical colleges.
And while I appreciate the recognition, the real kudos do not go to Robert Adley, but to Joe May, president of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System. May is the architect of the plan. He is the one whose vision of a state partnership with community and business leaders to provide the facilities necessary to train a highly skilled work force made this bill possible. Under his leadership, the LCTCS has experienced tremendous growth and expanded its services to students and businesses.
May is recognized across the nation and around the world for his leadership and passion for quality education and workforce training programs. We are lucky to have May in Louisiana. Simply put — Thank you, Joe!
state senator, District 36
