Motorcycle operator killed in Baton Rouge crash

A man riding a motorcycle was killed Saturday night in the 11600 block of Joor Road, according to East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies.

The motorcyclist was traveling north on Joor Road shortly before 7 p.m. when he struck a vehicle attempting to make a turn, said Casey Rayborn Hicks, a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.

The man — whose identity was withheld Saturday night pending next-of-kin notification — was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Hicks said.

Deputies believe speed was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, Hicks said.
