A boil water advisory in French Settlement has been lifted after a sample from a cracked water main did not show any contamination, the French Settlement Water Co. said Wednesday.
Crews collected a bacteriological sample Tuesday morning from the water main, near La. 444 in French Settlement, after having to perform an emergency repair on the line late Monday.
The sample came back negative Wednesday, the French Settlement Water Co. said in a news release.
Technicians had to make the emergency repair after officials discovered a crack in the water main, French Settlement Water Co. President Billy Edrington has said.
He said technicians were able to isolate the cracked line, so only homes on La. 444 were affected.
Edrington has said the state mandates that an advisory be issued if the water pressure falls below a certain level, which is what happened Monday.
