A miniature horse, birds, rabbits, guinea pig and a small pig named Willa visited the Gonzales Healthcare Center on Saturday.

The menagerie was accompanied by volunteers from Petite Farms and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church youth group.

Organizer Becky Petite said the visit is part of a ministry that connects youths with older adults “who don’t get many visitors.”

The animals, Petite said, are an “ice breaker for conversations between the young and elderly.”
