Letter: No racism in Zimmerman case

I hope no one is angry with me when they read this letter, but I’m confused.

I remember the day when O.J. Simpson was found not guilty of murdering two white people. Were there any demonstrations or riots by mobs of white people about that verdict? None that I recall. So why is there demonstrations and shouts of racism by the black community led by Al Sharpton and other black leaders over the Zimmerman verdict? Why is “racism” always their cry?

George Zimmerman had a fair and just trial. There was no evidence of anything but poor judgment by both parties. Race was not an issue in the incident. Zimmerman wasn’t thinking of skin color when he was being beaten by Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman may have made a bad decision but he was suspicious of anyone walking through his neighborhood at that time of night. All he wanted was for the pounding of his head on the sidewalk to stop.

I’m sure I will be rebuked for this letter, but it’s been bothering me for a while.
