It’s football season in Ascension Parish.
The South Louisiana Fairgrounds park in Donaldsonville will be the place Saturday for youths ages 6 to 15 to show off their football skills in the National Football League’s Punt, Pass and Kick contest.
The action starts at 10 a.m.
This year’s free local PPK is sponsored by Ascension Parish government’s recreation department.

Boys interested in learning the skills needed to play lacrosse are invited to a free clinic from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center.
The Dutchtown Lacrosse Club is sponsoring the clinic.
The Dutchtown Lacrosse Club will be holding registration in late September for the upcoming season. The free skills clinic will help introduce players to the game.

The Rachel’s Challenge program is coming to Gonzales and Donaldsonville.
The program, which was developed by a parent whose child was killed in the Columbine High School shootings, was created to teach and spread acts of kindness across the country,
Residents are invited to 6 p.m. community programs Monday at Lowery Middle School in Donaldsonville and Tuesday at Gonzales Middle School.
