Britts named St. Jude Family of the Month

Willard Britt and his daughter, Loretta Britt, received the July Family of the Month Award from Knights of Columbus Council 9692 on July 28 at St. Jude Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Collins and Grand Knight Eddie Guidry presented the award.

The Britt family has been a member of the parish since 1972. Willard and his wife helped start Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs at the church and served as troop leaders. Willard is a Eucharistic minister and ministry chairman, sang in the choir, served as a minister of the word on special occasions and initiated and chaired the hospital visitation ministry. He is an usher and longtime member of the fair committee. Loretta is an active Catholic Daughter and has served as chapter regent. She is a member of the hospitality ministry, has been a Scout leader, member of the Tender Loving Family ministry and was a Eucharistic minister.

Brusly Lions Club elects new officers

The Brusly Lions Club has elected officers for 2013-14: Melvin Abbott, president, Steve Guidry, vice president; Steve Wallace, secretary; and John Gossman, treasurer.
