First Baptist Church in Slidell recently wrapped up a successful summer of Vacation Bible School, but the church remained busy throughout the summer following up the annual “Frick and Frack” program that culminated in a musical production.
This is the eighth year the liturgical group from Virginia has traveled to the church to produce a weeklong summer camp for children. This year, the campers worked to prepare for a performance at First Baptist on the final Friday night.
“The Ballad of Bullheaded Billy” was a musical adventure “about forgiveness, obedience and God’s amazing grace,” according to program director Neesa Hart.
Hart said the ministry writes and develops children’s musicals and tours every summer, visiting a different church every week. She said every child has a part, and a special message.
“We’ve been coming to Slidell every year since Hurricane Katrina, and it’s wonderful to see some of our first campers growing up and returning to participate each year,” Hart said.
