Waterfowl seasons approved Thursday by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
Coastal Zone: Nov. 9-Dec. 1, Dec. 14-Jan. 19. Youth hunt: Nov. 2-3.
Daily limit is 6 of which there can be no more than 4 mallards (only two of which can be hen mallards), 3 wood ducks, 3 scaup (dos gris), 2 pintails, 2 redheads, 2 canvasbacks, 1 mottled duck and 1 black duck.
Additional take allowed for 5 mergansers (only 2 hooded merganzers) and 15 coots (poule d’eau).
Includes Blue, Snow & Ross’ geese (light geese) and Specklebellies (white-fronted geese)
Daily limits on blue, snow & Ross’ geese, 20 per day (no possession limit); on specklebellies, 2 per day (possession limit 6)
Coastal Zone: Nov. 9-Dec. 1, Dec. 14-Jan. 31.
Daily limit is 3 (possession limit 9).
During the Canada goose season, hunters are allowed to take specklebellies but can have no more than 3 total per day (2 Canadas/1 specklebelly; 1 Canada/2 specklebellies).
For blue, snow and Ross’ geese only
No daily nor possession limits. Hunters allowed to use electronic calls and unplugged shotguns, and hunting hours extended to one-half hour after sunset.
16 days of the season are taken during the special September teal season (Sept. 14-29)
Daily limits are 15 per day in the aggregate of king and clapper rails; 25 per day in the aggregate of sora and Virginia rails; 15 per day for gallinules. Possession limit three times the daily limits.
Coastal Zone: Nov. 2-Dec. 1, Dec. 14-Feb. 28.
East Zone: Nov. 9-Dec. 8, Dec. 14-Feb. 28.
West Zone: Nov. 9-Dec. 15, Dec. 21-Feb. 28.
Daily limit is 8 (possession limit 24)
