The Algiers-Canal Street ferry resumed service about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, after being suspended for more than a day, the Department of Transportation and Development said.
The boat used to service that route had been diverted to the Chalmette route Monday to replace a ferry that had mechanical and electrical issues.
Those issues have been fixed, and both routes are now running, according to the transportation department.
The ferry is still running on a reduced schedule prompted by its separation from the Crescent City Connection tolls, which had funded the service.
Veolia, the company that runs the Regional Transit Authority, is considering a takeover of the ferries.
RTA will hold a public meeting at 5 p.m. Monday at New Orleans City Hall to discuss the proposed fare structure, which would include a $2 fare for pedestrians.
