BAYOU CORNE — Crews repaired a water line break in Assumption Parish on Wednesday, restoring full service to parish customers.
Customers living from La. 69 and La. 70 South through the Bayou Corne community were without water Wednesday morning during the repairs, parish officials said in a blog post.
Pierre Part residents were not affected by the outage.
A water line running along La. 70 South near the entrance to the Texas Brine Co. facility was found broken Tuesday.
Officials were uncertain Tuesday whether the damaged line served the Bayou Corne area or a broader swath of Assumption, including Pierre Part, and so asked residents throughout the region to conserve water.
But workers on Wednesday found the problem involved a 6-inch line serving only the Bayou Corne area.
Many residents no longer occupy their homes in Bayou Corne and the vicinity because of evacuation orders issued a year ago in connection with the emergence of a nearby sinkhole.
