GONZALES — A Louisiana attorney general’s High Technology Crime Unit undercover sting led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Gonzales-area man Tuesday on counts of downloading child pornography from the Internet.
Thomas Preston Newman Jr., 41474 Glen Williams Road, Gonzales, was booked into the Ascension Parish Prison near Donaldsonville with nine counts of pornography involving juveniles, the Attorney General’s Office reported.
If convicted, Newman faces up to 20 years in prison on each count.
The unit worked with the Ascension and St. Charles parish sheriff’s offices and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
