The 14th annual Locks of Love Cut-a-Thon will be from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie.

Haircuts will be offered for $15, and those who donate 10 or more inches of hair will get a free T-shirt, while supplies last. Participants should come with clean, dry hair.

Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to needy children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. Others have suffered severe burns or injuries, or have lost hair due to radiation treatment.

Donated hair must be at least 10 inches long, clean and dry, bundled into a ponytail or braid and not bleached. Dyed or permed hair can be used.
