Baton Rouge police on Friday arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man Aug. 31 in the 2700 block of Huron Street.

Police booked Danny Jaren Cousin, 23, 3862 Pocasset St., Baton Rouge, into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of first-degree murder in the death of Bryan Young, police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

Police also arrested Keeston Davis, 21, 3867 Wyandotte St. Davis is accused of driving Cousin away from the shooting, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Davis was booked into Parish Prison on a count of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Since Young’s death, detectives gathered new information which led to the arrest of Cousin and Davis, McKneely said.

Cousin is accused of shooting Young multiple times in the chest during an attempted armed robbery at 3 a.m. near the Sharon Arms Apartments , 2747 Huron St., McKneely said. Young was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

On Aug. 31, Cousin walked away from a conversation with a male prostitute to speak with Young, a known local prostitute, who was standing nearby, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Young then engaged Cousin in a conversation about oral sex, which Cousin refused, the affidavit says.

Cousin then attempted to rob Young while armed with a black handgun, and when Young yelled out, “I ain’t got no money,” Cousin shot him multiple times, the affidavit says.

Davis, who also was in the area working as a prostitute, picked up Cousin in a silver Saturn and drove him away from the shooting, an affidavit says.
