Denham Springs family escapes harm in mobile home blaze

A fire early Friday at a mobile home on East Susie Circle in Denham Springs displaced a family of three, the Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 5 said.

Firefighters called to 8450 E. Susie Circle around 4 a.m. found flames coming from the mobile home’s living room, Assistant Fire Chief Mickey Sharp said.

The fire was brought under control about 45 minutes later, Sharp said.

Family members were home at the time of the fire, but they escaped unharmed, Sharp said.

Firefighters believe the fire may have been caused by an electrical problem, Sharp said, but the blaze remains under investigation. Firefighters have ruled out arson.

About seven or eight firefighters responded to the blaze.

The home is considered a total loss, Sharp said.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, Red Cross spokeswoman Nancy Malone said.
