U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., will host town hall meetings to hear from constituents in St. Helena and Tangipahoa parishes.
“I always look forward to my town hall meetings in Louisiana because they keep me energized and in tune with what’s going on in the real world,” Vitter said. “I always think folks in Louisiana have the best, most common-sense ideas, and hearing from them helps me do the job I was elected to do — represent them in Washington.”
Vitter’s Tangipahoa Parish Town Hall Meeting is 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hammond City Council Chambers, 310 East Charles St., in Hammond; and the St. Helena Parish Town Hall Meeting is from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the St. Helena Parish Police Jury Building meeting room, 17911 La. 43 N., in Greensburg.
Vitter has held town hall meetings in all 64 parishes every congressional session.
Door of Hope to meet Tuesdays
A Door of Hope will meet at 6:45 p.m. Tuesdays at Heartsease Family Life Church,12112 Florida Blvd., in Baton Rouge.
Classes are free and will include topics such as hope for those suffering or recovering from addiction, sexual abuse, depression, self-harm, eating disorders and abortion.
A Door of Hope is a faith-based nonprofit organization in Livingston Parish that ministers to young women age 17 and older who are struggling to overcome various life issues by providing a residential home with 24-hour care in a Christian setting. For information, call (225) 665-4773.

Walker High School Sophomore Orientation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday in the Glenn Ellis Gym. Students are to arrive at 8:45 a.m. in complete uniform to register. Christian Center to host fundraiser
Christian Center Church, 8774 Dave Clark Road, in Denham Springs will hold a benefit rummage sale and jambalaya lunch Aug. 3 to raise funds for church expenses. Jambalaya plates are $6 and include corn, peas, cake and bread. They will be sold from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Delivery is available for five or more orders from the same location.

Community event to address flooding
A community meeting about flooding of the Petite Amite and Old River due to trees and other trash will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Fire Station on La. 22 in Head of Island, 11/2 miles west of Val’s.
Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks, Parish Councilman Ronnie Sharpe, Alvin Fairburn and representatives from the offices of U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy will attend.
