The Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is hosting a presentation by the National Weather Service to help business owners prepare for hurricanes.
Business owners and operators are invited to the 10 a.m. presentation Monday at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center banquet room.
Ken Graham, National Weather Service meteorologist with the New Orleans/Baton Rouge National Weather Service Team, will talk about what a business owner or operator should consider when planning and preparing for a hurricane.

Mary Kass, founder and president of the Greater New Orleans Tea Party, will be the featured speaker at the Ascension GOP Roundtable at 6 p.m. Thursday at Brew-Bacher’s Grill, 909 E. Ascension St., Gonzales.
The roundtable is sponsored by Ascension Republican Women. Kass will speak on the national Common Core State Standards initiative. Cost for the meal is $14.

The Dutchtown High School color guard is taking orders for its jambalaya dinner fundraiser on July 27.
The dinners are $6 and include jambalaya, white beans and bread.

Dinners can be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 27 at Tee Wayne’s Cajun Cooking, 39087 La. 621, Gonzales.
Registration is underway for the Ascension Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo.
The expo is planned Sept. 15 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. Tables are $150 and only chamber members can participate.

Children will make mustaches, paint truffula trees, and plant a flower seed to take home.
