ROARING 20s PARTY: The Junior Committee of the Women’s Guild of the New Orleans Opera Association holds its Roaring 20s Summer Party, “A Speakeasy in the Big Easy,” with champagne punch; bathtub gin and treats; and 1920s treats, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday at the Opera Guild Home, 2504 Prytania St., New Orleans.

FINE ARTS ACADEMY: New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts is registering students for classes in fall. The school, 5256 Magazine St., offers beginning and intermediate classes in painting, drawing, photography and digital media taught by New Orleans artists. Classes begin Sept. 9. VIVE LE VIEUX CARR É GALA: The Vieux Carré Property Owners, Residents and Associates will hold its 75th anniversary gala on Sept. 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Cabildo. This 75th Anniversary Gala will be a spectacular event. The architecture, the entertainment, and the food that makes New Orleans one of the top food destinations in the world will contribute to the magic of the evening. In keeping with its diamond anniversary, the highlights of a special silent auction will include diamond jewelry and antique art; and the pièce de résistance of the live auction is a week at an 18th-century home in the medieval village of Eyguières, France, located in the lovely and picturesque region of Provence.

Louisiana Bucket Brigade fund-raiser: The “Stomp Out the Stink Dance-A-Thon” is from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday at Café Istanbul, 2372 St. Claude Ave. There will be dance lessons of all types, DJs, tasty local food, great prizes and games. This year’s theme is “Enchantment Under the Sheen”; dress as your favorite sea creature or take the theme in your own direction.

Dancers raise $45 minimum to participate ($30 for kids 12 and under) by collecting pledges from friends, fans and family. Register now atlabbdanceathon.org. Spectators can pay $10 at the door.
