Tangipahoa woman dies in crash near Fluker

A 53-year-old woman died Thursday in a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of La. 10 and U.S. 51 near Fluker.

Michelle Cooper, who lived in the village of Tangipahoa, was driving a 2002 Toyota Tundra east on La. 10 around 9 p.m. when she failed to stop at the U.S. 51 intersection, State Police Trooper 1st Class Nick Manale reported.

Cooper then ran off the road and hit a ditch embankment.

Cooper, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.

Impairment is not a suspected factor in the crash, but a toxicology examination is pending at the State Police Crime Lab.
