The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southeastern Louisiana University and the Livingston Economic Development Council will host a free seminar, “When Disaster Strikes: Emergency Preparedness for Businesses,” from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Livingston Literacy and Technology Center, 9261 Florida Blvd., Walker.
The seminar will prepare businesses for emergency events.
Presentations in the seminar include local response updates, gauging business readiness, creating a business continuity plan, selecting the right insurance, data security and crisis communications.

The Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory will host Science Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 20 at 19100 Ligo Road, Livingston.
The theme is “Reflecting Science,” and participants will learn about reflections and refractions. The Walker Police Department is collecting uniforms for its annual school uniform drive.
Pre-owned school uniforms may be dropped off in donation barrels at the following locations in Walker: Walgreens, Walker Quick and Handy Cleaners, Wholly Ground Coffee House, Carter’s Grocery, Stine Lumber, Walker Baptist Church, Walker City Hall and Winn Dixie. Cash or gift card donations as well as uniforms can be dropped off at the Walker Police Department.
