Ascension Parish briefs for July 11, 2013

Monthly recycling day set for Saturday

Ascension Parish government’s monthly Recycling Road Show recycling truck will be in the Prairieville Wal-Mart store parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The event was moved from its traditional first Saturday of the month slot due to the holiday.

“We decided to reschedule our July recycling event a week later because of the July Fourth holiday weekend falling on the first Saturday,” Ascension Parish Environmental Manager Don Hysell said.

Residents can drop off newspapers, magazines and catalogs; phone books and paperback books; mail, colored paper and envelopes; milk and juice cartons; cardboard, detergent and cereal boxes, 12-pack drink cartons and flattened boxes; aluminum, tin or bimetal cans and metal lids; and No. 1 through No. 7 plastic containers.

The Recycling Road Show is not accepting glass, aerosol cans, wire hangers, bags, hangers, caps, lids, six-pack rings, photos, carbon paper, wax-coated frozen food packaging, takeout food containers or chemical containers.

For more information about the Ascension Parish Recycling Road Show, call Hysell at (225) 450-1308.
