Standing tall along the 18th Fairway of Copper Mill’s golf course, the custom home at 2231 S. Turnberry Ave. in Zachary is a classic French style residence with heart pine floors and tall ceilings. With its golf course setting, you can spend evening hours sipping something cold while watching golfers finish up their rounds. But if you’re worried about errant golf shots, there’s a private courtyard tucked safely on the side of the home.
The brick and stucco home has a tall front elevation with mature, sprinkled landscaping. Brick driveway aprons, curb-and-gutter streets and New Orleans style street lamps are standard in Copper Mill, an upscale golf community just south of Zachary off Highway 964.
Tall double doors provide entry to the home, where dark-stained heart pine flooring stretches ahead into the living room and to the right into the formal dining room. A wall of windows provides views of the back porch and yard, and out to the 18th Fairway.
Tall windows are scattered throughout the home, allowing plenty of natural light to filter through the large rooms in the triple-split floor plan.
The living room – which has a tall granite fireplace with a painted mantle and adjacent built-in cabinetry – has an exit to the rear porch and patio. The surprise, though, is there’s an exit to the side courtyard as well.
The side and rear courtyards both have gas stubs for an outdoor kitchen, and both are immaculately landscaped and sprinkled. A black aluminum fence surrounds it all.
Meanwhile, the kitchen and keeping room are through a wide cased entry from the living room, and are floored in 18-inch ceramic tile that nicely accents the slab granite counter tops and island. It’s also the same granite used in the living room to surround the fireplace.
The keeping room has a custom entertainment center and more widows back to No. 18, and there’s a small breakfast room with three more tall windows. The kitchen is outfitted with a stainless GE Profile appliance package and has a Samsung refrigerator. There’s a prep sink on the granite island, and a five-burner cook top is below tumbled travertine backsplashes.
A big walk-in pantry is at the start of a hallway that accesses the guest suite and its full bath, the laundry room, a drop-off area with cubbies and coat hooks, and the stairway to a bonus room above the two-car garage.
The bonus room is currently set up as a media room, and the speaker system will remain, according to Katie Mondulick, the Coldwell Banker ONE agent marketing the home. A wall at the far end of the media room effectively divides the room, meaning the area behind the wall could become a home office with a window.
Back in front of the home, a hallway from the foyer leads to a pair of kids’ bedrooms separated by a Hollywood bath. One bedroom is carpet and the other has the same antique pine as the living room.
The master suite has two sitting areas – one with golf views and one with private courtyard views. The master bath is nice too, with 20-inch ceramic tile floors and a corner whirlpool tub below two
windows. There are two vanities, and his is actually just about as big as hers. There is but one closet, but it is quite large. The master bath also has a custom tile walk-in shower opposite the corner whirlpool tub.
This beautiful Copper Mill home will be kept open today from 2-4 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to see it.
