The Port Vincent Volunteers for Family and Community donated 70 “Raise a Reader Bags” to the Livingston Parish Health Unit last month. Each bag contained a book and information about the importance of reading to young children.

The club also donated aboud 30 books to the 7th Ward School library.

Members held a plant sale and meeting at the Port Vincent Community Center. Proceeds from the plant sales will be used for community service projects. Nathalie Savoy, area nutrition agent with the LSU AgCenter in Livingston Parish, talked about to participants about eating well. The program included nutrition information and exercises to build strength, improve balance and increase flexibility.

Members visited the Golden Age Nursing home in Denham Springs and gave mothers flower pins.
