Football season is less than two months away, and The Advocate sports staff wants to remind head coaches to submit a questionnaire as soon as possible. The deadline is July 22, and we’d love to get information from our schools in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Acadiana and all the surrounding areas.
Our questionnaire can be found on the high schools page at theadvocate.com. You can also submit a questionnaire you’ve filled out for another media source. Please include heights, weights and classifications for projected starters.

The Baton Rouge Area Football Officials Association will begin its series of weekly preseason meetings at 7 p.m. Monday in Room 143 at LSU’s Coates Hall, located between the student union and the tower.
Meetings are set at Coates through Aug. 19. Current members and those wishing to become a high school football official should plan to attend.
St. Joseph’s Academy hired Stephanie Broussard as its soccer coach. Broussard, a former Lee High and LSU player, has been an SJA assistant since 2010.
Broussard also has coached in the Baton Rouge Soccer Association since 2005. She played for the girls (1991-93) and boys (1993-95) teams at Lee. Broussard played at LSU from 1995-97, earning All-Southeastern Conference recognition.
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association/Louisiana High School Coaches Association is taking applications for an LHSCA Director, who will work in the LHSAA office. July 8 is the deadline to apply.
Duties for the LHSCA director will include overseeing the LHSCA’s all-star games for football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball and boys/girls soccer and the LHSCA clinic, along with supervising swimming, boys and girls soccer, tennis and golf for the LHSAA.
Applicants must have 10 years experience as a high school coach and must be a five-year LHSCA member.

Denham Springs High is compiling a history of its football program and seeks information on teams from 1930 to 1975 for its website, denham
Documentation on the team’s accomplishments is sought. Rosters, records, photos and all-district and all-state teams are needed. Yearbooks and scrapbooks will be accepted.

Plaquemine football standout Davon Godchaux said he will make a decision on what college he will attend Dec. 28.
Godchaux, the No. 2-rated defensive end in Louisiana, has a scholarship offer from LSU as well as Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M and Texas.
Ex-Plaquemine baseball player Derek Sanchez participated in the MVP Baseball program, playing a series of games in Omaha as part of a training program. Sanchez played four years at PHS. He was one of 10,000 participating, but the lone one from Louisiana.
