Tickets are on sale for the Acadia Players Community Theater production of Twilight Bayou, which runs Thursday through Sunday, July 11-14, at the Grand Opera House of the South, 505 N. Parkerson Ave., Crowley.
The Sunday matinee is set for 2 p.m. All other performances begin at 7 p.m.
This original, two-act production was written by teenage playwright Aaron Bertrand. It is directed by Acadia Players Teen Board Liaison Patty Ronkartz with musical direction by Jimmy Broussard, Acadia Players president and musical director.
Twilight Bayou is set in the fictional community of Duhon Cove in the Atchafalaya Swamp, where nothing is as it seems for 16-year-old Jolie.
Jolie has lived the past eight years in the Dusty Haven Retirement Village in Florida with her Grandmere, who is remarrying. Jolie has made the decision to move back home to Louisiana, where the Cypress trees block out the sun giving the appearance of continuous twilight.
Although her mother, Claire, has finally gotten her act together after the disappearance of Jolie’s father; moving turns out to be a rude awakening.
With a new circle of friends, a new school, the reunion with her mother and the whispers of mysterious disappearances by swamp monsters, could this be more that Jolie can bear?
