The West Baton Rouge Parish Library and the parish’s Department of Parks and Recreation host exotic-animal awareness programs Wednesday in Port Allen and Addis.

The presentations are designed to increase awareness of native and exotic animals, and their physical and behavioral differences, and also encourage respect for animal life. The programs may include 15 to 18 animals.

The programs are presented by Zoo Zoom, an educational and entertaining exotic-animal zoo in Breaux Bridge.

The program at the Port Allen Community Center is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The program at the Addis Community Center will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Call the West Baton Rouge Parish Library at (225) 342-7920 for more information.

The public is invited.

The new 43,000-square-foot medical center will include an emergency department with 22 patient exam rooms and a full-service Ochsner health center with approximately 7,000 square feet of clinic space for primary and specialty care.

Celebrity roast

We Are the Difference, an Iberville Parish nonprofit, has named Sheriff Brett Stassi as its celebrity this year for the organization’s second annual Celebrity Roast scheduled 6 p.m. June 27 at the Carl F. Grant Civic Center.

Comedian John Morgan will be the emcee, and this year’s theme is “A Cajun Night at the Oscars.”
