Ascension Parish residents will have two chances next week to provide input on a proposed parishwide sewer project, a parish official said.

Meetings will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center gym, 9039 St. Landry Ave., Gonzales, and Tuesday at Dutchtown High School cafeteria, 13165 La. 73, Geismar.

“These will be informational gathering sessions,” Parish Councilman and Utilities Committee Chairman Benny Johnson said.

EA Sportsman’s League

The effects that gasoline mixed with ethanol potentially could have on marine engines will be discussed Monday at the East Ascension Sportsman’s League’s monthly meeting, a spokeswoman for the league said.

Alton “Pete” Landry is set to talk at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Gonzales.

Dancing for a Cause

Tickets for the July 12 Dancing for a Cause fundraiser are on sale for $20 through June 21.

The ticket price increases to $30 after June 21, organizers said.

The event, similar to the popular “Dancing with the Stars” television show, is a fundraiser for Community Opportunities — The Arc of East Ascension, a nonprofit group raising awareness and enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families through services and advocacy that support choice, independence and dignity.

This year’s dancers include State Fire Marshal Butch Browning, Cosmopolitan Man of the Year Ryan Chenevert, Rubicon’s Mark Dearman, Postlethwaite and Netterville’s Sally Diez, Kyle Hanna and Allison Hudson with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, Gwen Price with the Ascension Parish School Board, lawyer Matt Pryor, Toni Schexnaydre, Marian Walsworth with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and Dr. Dawn Zitman.

Dancers will be paired with area professional dancers and dance instructors.

Tickets are available from any LeBlanc’s Food Stores location or from the ARC of East Ascension office, 1122 S.E. Ascension Complex Blvd., Gonzales.
