Cox 4 to televise prep football games

The Cox4 “Game of the Week” schedule of live high school football games begins Aug. 26 and continues through December with local games set for the Baton Rouge, Acadiana and New Orleans markets.

In all three markets, the Cox4 Game of the Week will start with a 6:30 p.m. pregame show, followed by kickoff at 7 p.m.

The games will replay on Cox4 at 10:30 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, and 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Games can be viewed live only in their local markets; however, all games will be available in all markets later in week to Cox subscribers through On DEMAND, Channel 2104. (From a Cox remote, click on On DEMAND FreeZone Cox Local Cox4 for a menu of games.)

The pregame show will be hosted by Tammi Arender and feature interviews with school leaders, local elected officials and community leaders from across southeast Louisiana.

The Baton Rouge games will be called by play-by-play announcer Jeff Palermo, joined by former NFL wide receiver Cory Fleming as color analyst and Blair Albene as sideline reporter.

Joel Davis will be the play-by-play announcer in the Acadiana region, joined by color analyst Troy LeBoeuf and Kashanna Bradford as sideline reporter.ᅧ Executive producer Jimmy Frederick will announce the New Orleans area games with Donny Haynes as sideline reporter.

Frederick said the Baton Rouge market will include teams from the Capital City and Ascension Parish. The Acadiana lineup includes defending 5A state champion Acadiana.

Cox4 Game of the Week’s ESPN award-winning “Football, Food and Families” will also be back this year.

Cox Communications will continue to partner with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana.ᅧ Schools competing on the field each week also compete to collect can goods. The food collected is then donated to their local food bank.
