CLINTON — East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies investigating a Friday shoot-out that left one man dead and another critically wounded plan to question some potential witnesses through the holiday weekend, a spokesman for Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said Saturday.
Deputies said John S. Goudeau Jr., 38, of Clinton, was killed in the shootings at a residence on La. 10 about five miles east of Clinton, and a 19-year-old man at the residence was critically wounded.
Eric Martin, 26, 9555 Moore Lane, Ethel, was booked on one-count of attempted murder in the wounding of the 19-year-old.
Sgt. Kevin Garig said Saturday that Goudeau and the 19-year-old had a run-in Thursday night, and Goudeau and Martin came to the residence to confront the 19-year-old.
The investigation is continuing, and anyone having information on the shootings is asked to call the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 683-5459.
Martin recently got out of prison after serving part of a five-year sentence for negligent homicide in the 2009 fatal barroom shooting of a man in West Feliciana Parish.
