The team of Forrest Bellue, 17, of Denham Springs, and Tyler Palmer, 18, of Holden, will compete Tuesday in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich. Instructor Van Guarino will accompany the pair.

In April, this team from the Livingston Parish Technology Center outlasted eight other student teams from across Louisiana to win the 2013 Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills State Hands-On Championship. At nationals, they will face off against 49 other teams from around the country in a timed competition during which they are required to diagnose and repair a set of “bugs” in a 2013 Ford Explorer XLT. The team with the best combined written test and hands-on competition scores wins the national title.
