West Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man accused of leading Baton Rouge police on a pursuit Friday night from Government Street to West Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge police said Sunday.
Deputies have Louis Northern in custody and Baton Rouge police plan to move him to Baton Rouge in the next few days, police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.
No other information was available Sunday afternoon, Stubbs said.
Northern allegedly led Baton Rouge police on a chase Friday night from Government Street to the other side of the Mississippi River before abandoning his car in West Baton Rouge, Stubbs said.
Police are still investigating why Northern fled when an officer tried to pull the car over in the 7400 block of Government Street, Stubbs said.
Northern was speeding, which prompted the attempted traffic stop, Stubbs said.
No injuries were reported.
Stubbs has said that to his knowledge, no drugs or contraband were found in the car.
