Three Zachary women accused of Medicaid fraud

The state Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit has arrested three Zachary women accused of filing false Medicaid claims.

The three women were arrested Wednesday with assistance from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, a news release from the state Attorney General's Office says.

The three worked as personal care attendants and each submitted time sheets stating they provided services for Medicaid recipients on the same dates and times that they were actually working for another personal care services agency, the news release says.

Those booked are:

Personal care attendants hired by Medicaid providers to care for physically handicapped Medicaid recipients are required to keep service logs and records of hours worked with each client and submit the hours to the Medicaid provider for payment. In turn, the provider submits the hours to the Medicaid program for payment.
